A Look Into Watchdog Journalism

We talk to Mei about non profit watchdog journalism. These models are ran not for profit motif but are expensive to maintain. What do these outfits do and how do they fund such a model?

How independent are these watchdog journalists?

Mei - who is a Pulitzer-winning journalist - also talks about the challenge for journalism.

We discuss how journalism is a public good and to run it on a pure profit sense may not be the right way.

We also talk about the evolving landscape for journalists and how the rise of digital platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp have impacted the industry.

She also points out on how strong man politics in this region remains and she observes that the climate of fear continues to cloud journalists here when it comes to reporting in this region.
