Building Budget 2023

Malaysia expects the domestic construction sector to increase by 6.1% this year, supported by improved performance in all sub-sectors. The construction industry also saw a 10% growth on-year for the final quarter of 2022. However, there was little focus on the sector in Budget 2023 and instead there were announcements that some directly-negotiated contracts will be cancelled and retendered. We speake with Loong Chee Wei, Senior Associate Director, Affin Hwang Investment Bank, to get his input on what to expect.
