Planning A City

Rajiv Rishyakaran, Bukit Gasing State Assemblyman

23-Mar-17 15:00

Planning A City

Founded in 1952 on rubber estates to support the booming population of Kuala Lumpur, houses in Petaling Jaya were first built in what is known today as Old Town. PJ was awarded city status in 2006 and close to 700,000 people call the place home today. Like most cities in Malaysia, Petaling Jaya has a local master plan to guide its development. Bukit Gasing state assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran, back for his monthly show on all things local government, explains why a master plan is needed and how the public can have a say in what gets builded in their neighbourhoods.
