Rethinking Recovery and Healing

“Every illness is unique, which means that all recoveries must also be, in some sense, unique. There is no one-size-fits-all to getting better,” wrote an NHS GP Dr Gavin Francis in The Guardian. We ask consultant orthopaedic surgeon Dr Rajesh Singh what recovery means in his discipline, where a person’s process of healing can be eclipsed by physical objective measurements of recovery post-injury or surgery.
