By The Way: Reunion for Genesis, Pilot Festivals, Jay-Z Sold Tidal, Fyre Festival Updates

By The Way is a rapid-fire segment that gives you a snapshot of developing stories in the music world. This week, English rock band Genesis announced a North American reunion tour after being postponed twice. Though dates are not confirmed yet the tour is scheduled to happen in September and October 2021. Though Covid-19 is very much around, we see the return of large-scale music events. Liverpool and Wuhan carried out a pilot festival and received a positive response in attendance. Tidal, a high-fidelity music streaming platform founded by rapper Jay-Z has officially been sold to Twitter co-founder, Jack Dorsey. It is believed Tidal is now worth $350 million. Lastly, Fyre Festival updates, a $100m class-action lawsuit was filed days after the infamous festival was canceled. The New York Times reported that four years after the event, the organizers have agreed to a settlement with 277 attendees for $7,220 per person.
