Papi Zak

Tonight, we had a man who’s infectious laughter and wit as a stand-up comedian kept him on morning radio for a long time, it’s none other than Malaysia’s biggest comedian, Papi Zak.

When it comes to Papi, biggest is also a literal form of what he is when he belts out jokes on stage. Always starting with his trademark “Don’t be fooled with this accent, I’m 100% Malay” opening line, Papi was a child of a diplomat where living abroad was his life. Born in Egypt, raised in Germany and Japan. He studied in America which were he picked up the accent.

Malaysia called him and in 2003, he settled back down here. Upon the recommendation of his comedic hero, Harith Iskander that prompted Papi to pursue stand-up comedy. Starting off with open mic nights at The Actor’s Studio in Bangsar, Papi honed his skills of making audiences burst into laughter. In 2007 he performed alongside Malaysia’s premiere trio of comedians; Jit Murad, Douglas Lim and of course, Harith Iskander for Harith Iskander’s Eh… Got Free Ticket Ah?

Soon after, Papi started performing throughout Malaysia. From shows in KL, Penang and Sabah, Papi has became one of Malaysia’s most wanted comedians. He is also a Creative Director for his own production house, Jo Mama Productions , working with major clients. Papi also was the host for Joanne Kam’s Super Kam 3: It Gets Wetter. To catch Papi live, he is this week’s Crackhouse Comedy Club’s headliner.

For the record, Papi Zak scored 16!
