Ksatriya, Poet, Musician

25-Nov-15 20:00

Ksatriya

Danny Mahes aka Ksatriya is a Penang-based 31 year old full-time poet, musician and an avid creative community organiser since 2013.

Coming from a background of IT, Ksatriya was working in the manufacturing side of things and involved in the security business soon after. Although the job was great, it left him feeling unsatisfied overall. In 2013, he left it all to pursue his new life as a poet-musician.

Ksatriya’s music is a mixture of traditional Malaysian music, culture, poetry with Malay syair written into them. His strong passion for hard hitting words had moved him and a few others to create Say It Like You Mean It (SILYMI) A mentorship community that teaches and provokes creativity for young adults.

In late 2013, Ksatriya launched his EP titled Red. An eight track album filled with sculpted lyrics and soothing beats, the debut album received good reviews all over. In late 2015, Ksatriya received a grant from the Krishen Jit Astro Foundation for his current projects with SILYMI.

For the record, Ksatriya scored 25!
