Tonight we’ve a woman who is a shining actor forerunning the new Malaysian independent film wave. She’s none other than Dawn Cheong!

Dawn was born in Kuala Lumpur before being whisked away to New Zealand at the tender age of seven years old. By her teens, she returned to finish high school. For her tertiary studies, Dawn went back to New Zealand to study a Bachelor's in Acting at Toi Whakaari, the National School Of Dance and Drama, New Zealand.

With a background of mixed influences and locales, Dawn has a sense of understanding for both Eastern and Western philosophies which she uses to a high degree when crafting her plays and when understanding characters for her roles. She’s taken roles in fan-favourites, Cuak (2014) and In Between Floors (2014). For Cuak, she has been nominated as Most Promising Actress and Best Actress award for the 27th Festival Filem Malaysia (FFM) on 5th September at KL Convention Centre. She’s also starring in a new unreleased short film titled Salvaj, a Malay short film which has been nominated as Best Short Film for the 27th FFM as well.
