  • Anne James is a member of Five Arts Centre (FAC) and has appeared in most of the company’s iconic dance and theatre work over 30 year span. She was in Baling, a documentary theatre work directed by Mark Teh, which was performed at the Opening Festival Asian Arts Theatre in Gwangju, Korea and performed as herself, in another Mark Teh’s acclaimed production of Gostan Forward also with FAC, which was seen in Japan, Singapore and Malaysia.

     

    In Malaysia she has worked on The Sandpit, The Cord, Skin Trilogy, Family and The Four Sister’s Fernandez with Krishen Jit, Tarap Man with Zahim Al-Bakri, Silence Please, Hero and Another Country with Jo Kukathas, Antigone with Joe Hasham and Reconstructing Medea with Chee Sek Thim. Her upcoming Malay film is Redha directed by Tunku Mona Riza Azril Hamzah.

     

    Her nominations and awards in film and theatre include Best Supporting Actress (Female) for KIL (Anugerah Majlis Pengkritik Filem Kuala Lumpur 2013),  Best Solo Performer for Dinner for Two (Boh Cameronian Arts Award 2003) and Best Group Performance for Secondlink (Boh Cameronian Arts Awards 2007).

     

    Anne loves acting and would find it hard to give it up. She loves dancing more, but has had to hang up her dancing feet. To keep her instrument in shape she teaches voice and acting at local institutions.
