Drawing Nostalgia

DC, Marvel, Vertigo, and Image are some of the more common names that strike us when we discuss comics - but what about the likes of our local titles of the yesteryears, such Geli Hati, Bambino, Ujang and Gila-Gila? We pay a visit to a newly opened comics and cartoons museum, which celebrates the art of illustrations as far back as the 1930s. Jaafar Taib reminisces the beginnings of local giant, Gila-Gila, and the catalyst that inspired the museum - while prominent cartoonist, Ahmad Hilmy recounts the ever-evolving world of illustrations.
