S2E42: Diversifying The Sporting World

Similar to other parts of societies, stereotypes actively influence the sporting world. One of the most common examples here in Malaysia, is that basketball is stereotypically a Chinese sport, as Chinese players seemingly dominate the scene in vast numbers. As a result, many non-Chinese individuals have been taking initiatives to diversify the local basketball scene, and one of them is this week’s guest, Muhammad Razif, a firm believer in racial inclusiveness. Having made proposals for local basketball tournaments to be more diverse, and now even starting a series to help attain this goal, Razif explains why racial disparities are a problem, and how they should be solved. He even talks about his work with basketball, and why they might just be what the local scene needs.
