PNB Seeks Value Creation From Sime UMW Acquisition

Corporate Malaysia has witnessed some interesting M&As amongst the GLICs and GLCs. There was Kuala Lumpur Kepong’s purchase of Boustead Plantations from Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera for 1.15 billion ringgit. Then, Sime Darby Bhd announced it was buying UMW Holdings from its parent company Permodalan Nasional Berhad for 3.57 billion ringgit. We speak with P. Gunasegaram, independent business writer and analyst, to get a sense of these deals.
