Future-Proofing Invest Selangor

Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris, CEO, Invest Selangor

17-Jul-18 08:00

Future-Proofing Invest Selangor

Since inception in 1999, Invest Selangor has attracted more than RM144.2 billion worth of manufacturing investments to the state and was responsible in creating over 380,000 jobs. The group is aiming RM12 billion total investment this year, mainly from the services and manufacturing sectors that is like your bread and butter. Given the changing landscape today, we ask Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris what Invest Selangor is doing to go beyond manufacturing and services. He admits that they are "still far" from the RM12 billion 2018 target as investments have been slow earlier this year. Following an increase in investment enquiries post-GE14, Hasan estimates about RM3 billion to RM4 billion projects in the pipeline. We also discuss Invest Selangor's plans and new initiatives moving forward to stay in the fast changing game. In the post-GE14 environment - is there a difference now that the Selangor administration is part of the Federal Government? We ask Hasan this.
