From Chemicals to Food, the Little Company that Could

Texchem started out as a textile chemical trader 40 years ago and is now a multinational conglomerate that deals in industrial, food, polymer engineering and restaurants across ASEAN, China and Japan.

The company runs the famous Japanese restaurant, Sushi King and brought (though later shuttered) the Michelin-starred chain Tim Ho Wan to Malaysia.

Khoo Hsu Chuang speaks to Texchem Resources President and Group CEO Dato’ Brian Tan about the challenges the group is facing, highlighting its thin margins despite the healthy revenue and its renewed focus on its restaurant and food businesses.
