Recognise the Right to Seek Safety

According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Malaysia has more than 182,000 refugees and asylum seekers as of April 2022. 25% of that figure comprises children under the age of 18. Despite being host to so many people fleeing conflict and abuse, Malaysia does not have an effective legal framework to legitimise the position of refugees. What policies are needed to improve the situation of refugees in Malaysia?
