Uber and Lyft on the Defensive with Gig Driver Protection

A new Californian law wants to give more protection to ride-sharing drivers by classifying them as employees. It will be no easy route for drivers as Uber is preparing to argue that drivers aren't core to their business. It might also muddy the lines between gig wages and what are effectively higher union costs.
