Over the weekend, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida escaped unhurt after an explosive device was thrown at him at a campaign event. The incident echoed the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe less than a year ago and raises questions about security concerns ahead of the G7 Summit. We discuss domestic reactions to the incident and political dynamics ahead of local elections with Tokyo-based journalist William Pesek.
