Finally, BOJ Raises Rates After 17 years

The world's longest monetary policy experiment has ended with the Bank of Japan finally raising rates after 17 years. In what was a widely anticipated move, the overnight rate is now in a range of about zero to 0.1 percent, from minus 0.1 percent.
