The US economy’s fourth-quarter growth beat forecasts with GDP increasing 3.3% on an annualised basis. This means for all of 2023, the economy expanded 2.5%. Tim Mulholland, President at TJM Limited, Chicago, helps us analyse what this means for future action from the US Federal Reserve as underlying inflation also rose 2% for a second straight quarter, in line with its own target.
