CCTVs To Prevent Deaths In Custody?

There have been a total of 74 cases of detainees dying in police custody in Malaysia since 2011. Authorities claim most deaths were caused by medical issues, suicide and natural causes, but in some cases, police abuse and negligence.

To help curb the problem, Bukit Aman has decided to install a new line of SMART CCTVs in 58 police lockups nationwide. However, will this be effective enough to help prevent deaths in custody? BFM explores.

This is a report by Aisyah Tajudin.
