Bill Kayong - Will Justice Be Seen To be Done?

It has been a week since the Miri High Court acquitted and discharged three of the four accused of the murder of activist Bill Kayong. The man directly involved in the shooting remains on trial. The prosecution’s failure to establish prima facie case against the three has shock many with over 30 civil society organisations expressing their dismay, calling it “a travesty of justice”. They released a joint statement criticizing the police and prosecution. Native Land Rights and PKR activist, Kayong was killed in June 2016; assassinated at a traffic light intersection on the Miri-Kuala Baram Bypass. Today we ask if enough was done to secure a conviction.
