Top 5 at 5: Minister Resigns Over Sabah Revenue Rights

Datuk Ewon Benedick has resigned from the Cabinet as Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister, saying he disagrees with the Attorney General Chamber's position on Sabah's constitutional right to 40% of federal revenue. The AGC has said that it will conduct a thorough review of the judgement and consider all legal aspects before taking any further action. We discuss what this resignation means for Federal-Sabah relations and whether a potential cabinet reshuffle is in the air.

• GISBH leaders get off on alternative charges: Criticism is mounting over the downgraded charges and backdated sentences given to GISBH leaders, after over 500 children were rescued from its welfare homes last year, some reportedly abused, others taught to abuse. We hear thoughts on this from Muhammad Shaani Abdullah, former member of Suhakam on this.
• COP30 kicks off in Brazil: COP30 opens in Brazil’s Amazon gateway, with leaders debating climate pledges, forest funding, and fossil fuel phaseouts. But can this summit move beyond symbolism to real action?
• Demolition begins at Kampung Jalan Papan:
Despite earlier assurances and protests, eviction notices were issued with little time to vacate, and without the promised compensation. We hear from PSM’s Sivaranjani Manickam on how residents are responding on the ground.
• Trump's right-wing media machine: A Reuters investigation reveals how Trump-aligned influencers, media figures, and billionaire tech owners have built a powerful right-wing media ecosystem. This alliance has reshaped U.S. politics, amplified conservative narratives, and fueled distrust in mainstream news. We unpack this.
