Top 5 at 5: Malaysia to Introduce Good Samaritan Law

The government is considering introducing the Good Samaritan Law as a way to protect individuals aiding others in emergencies. We hear more insights on this from Dr Mohammad Aizuddin Azizah Ariffin, a consultant emergency physician from Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

· Tun Musa Aman becomes Sabah's new governor: This appointment has received mixed reactions, due to Musa Aman's past controversies, including corruption, bribery and money laundering. Ariff Adi Putera Anwar, a research officer at the Institute for Development Studies (Sabah) weighs in on what this appointment means for Sabah, and for Musa Aman himself.

· Welcoming the first Malaysian EV: Proton has launched its first electric car, called the Proton eMas7, fulfilling one of the government's target for national brands to join the electric vehicle market. Danny Tan, senior editor from paultan.org joins us to talk about the car's reception and what it means for the future of cars in Malaysia.

· The collapse of the German government: Chancellor Olaf Scholz has lost a confidence vote, paving the way for an early election in February. This comes following the collapse of his three-party coalition government in November over a budget dispute. We speak to Andrew Beattie, associate professor of German and European Studies from the University of New South Wales in Australia for a better understanding of the situation.

· Chinese character of the year: Shēng (升), which means to increase or rise, has been voted as the Chinese character of the year. To understand why shēng reasonated with Malaysians, we hear from Dr Gan Yee Chin, a senior lecturer from the Department of Languages and Applied Linguistics at Universiti Malaya.
