Top 5 At 5: Babies for Sale on TikTok

The stories we covered today include:

5. Singapore has put a 3-year moratorium on building new data centres, in turn giving Johor an advantage to collect more data centre investments from tech giants — but are we equipped to bear the environmental cost of this energy guzzling industry? Dr Praveena Nair Sivasankaran, Senior Lecturer at the School of Engineering of Taylor’s University sheds light on Malaysia's outdated green data centre regulations, and what we can do to make them even greener.

4. Containers housing foreign workers have been destroyed in a fire recently, bringing to light the harsh living conditions of foreign workers. We speak to Aslam Abdul Jalil, senior lecturer at the International Institute of Public Policy and Management at Universiti Malaya.

3. A recent case in Kelantan involving an event organiser testing a public address system during prayer times have resulted in the Kelantan Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment Committee to reinstate a ban for all entertainment and loud noises on Thursdays. We get clarification from Dr Balachandran Gopal Krishnan, Information Chief of PAS Non-Muslim Supporters Wing on how this ban is enforced.

2. The hottest weather we have ever had! We reached a new high earlier this week, with the global average hitting 17.15 degrees Celsius. Lakshmi Lavanya Rama Iyer, the Director of Policy & Climate Change at WWF-Malaysia weighs in.

1. Our top story: Calls to investigate a TikTok account that is allegedly providing illegal baby adoption services. We speak about these syndicates and how they operate with Riza Alwi, Advocacy & Communications Manager, OrphanCare.
