Top 5 at 5: Anti-Bullying Bill Passed In Dewan Rakyat

Malaysia’s Dewan Rakyat has passed a landmark Anti-Bullying Bill, creating legal mechanisms to protect children under 18 from physical, psychological, social, and online abuse. The law establishes an Anti-Bullying Tribunal empowered to hear complaints, order compensation of up to RM250,000, mandate counselling for parents and perpetrators, and remove harmful digital content. We discuss. (Starts at 22:28)

Sabah corruption case goes to trial: Former political secretary Shamsul Iskandar and businessman Albert Tei have pleaded not guilty in the Sabah mining scandal, facing charges of bribery involving RM176,000. Both have claimed trial. Criminal lawyer, Tiara Katrina Fuad, walks us through how this will play out in court. (Starts at 16:45)

Low inflation, but still feeling the pinch: Malaysia’s inflation rate is officially low at 1.3%, but many households still feel squeezed as wages fail to keep pace with rising costs. New indices like the Everyday Price Index and Perceived Price Index show daily essentials feel far more expensive than official figures suggest. So what's the deal? We discuss. (Starts at 11:16)

Canadian Indigenous leaders challenge Petronas: First Nations leaders from British Columbia have lodged a complaint in Kuala Lumpur against PETRONAS over its investment in LNG Canada and the Coastal GasLink pipeline. We talk to Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chief Na’Moks and Jesse Stoeppler about why they say the project violates Indigenous rights and international law. (Starts at 05:28)

Gender bias on Linkedin?: An AFP social experiment found women saw dramatic boosts in LinkedIn engagement after switching their profiles to appear male, with impressions spiking by hundreds or even thousands of percent. LinkedIn denies gender plays a role in its algorithms, but the trend raises questions about visibility, opportunity, and whether “male-coded” voices are more amplified on the platform. We talk about it. (Starts at 00:23)
