Top 5 at 5: Deepfake Child Pornography on the Rise

The police has revealed that more young people are getting hooked on synthetic child pornography generated by artificial intelligence. Since these images spread through encrypted messaging apps and dark web forums, tracking and prosecuting offenders have been challenging. We speak to Srividhya Ganapathy, the co-chairperson of CRIB Foundation on what needs to be done to address this.

Other stories we covered:

• Last leg of the ASEAN Summit: All eyes are on the Asean-Gulf Cooperation Council summit, which will see the two blocs discuss ways to cooperate in trade, investment and sustainable development. We get updates on this from BFM News correspondents, Sharon Kuruvilla and Aimannur Syahirah.
Malaysia outspends its neighbours at the grocery store: A research from the US Department of Agriculture has found that Malaysia tops the list as the country who spends the most on groceries. Teoh Ai Ni, research associate from Khazanah Research Institute specialising in food security, weighs in on this.
South Korea heads to the ballots: South Korea’s upcoming election marks a critical test of its democratic resilience after the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol. We reached out to Hoo Chiew Ping, co-founder and senior fellow at the East Asia International Relations Caucus for his insight.
