The Revival Story of Chinatown's Kwai Chai Hong

Every street has a story, but some alleys hold more than their share of memories. Kwai Chai Hong was once a neglected back lane, known for its shadows and decline, yet also remembered by many as a place of everyday life in Chinatown. Through careful restoration, it has become both a canvas for heritage storytelling and a gathering place for the community. We revisit its past and present with co-founder Zeen Chang, and explore how festivals like Mid-Autumn breathe new life into the city’s oldest corners.
