With International Mother Language day just around the corner, we spoke to three people who are doing their part to promote the use of your mother tongue. We speak with Hereckson Frex Rubin on his homemade nursery rhymes in Sabah’s indigenous languages, followed by a conversation with Professor Dr Stefanie Pillai on the wonders of the Melakan Portuguese creole Kristang. Finally, Sim Tze Wei talks us through a brief history of Hokkien use in Malaysia and his initiative the Speak Hokkien Campaign.
