This month, in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of the Japanese invasion of Malaya, Uma speaks to author and historian Andrew Barber about the tragic life of Doris Van der Straaten - an Australian citizen, the wife of a Malayan Eurasian, World War II prisoner-of-war, and the eventual mistress of the Japanese Army’s Western Garrison commander in Kuala Lumpur during the Occupation of Malaya.
