Think Gamification: The 8 Core Drives

There are all sorts of efforts to increase either customer or employee engagement or motivation, some of which include marketing campaigns, attractive prizes, latest technology and even the best management practices. At the end of the day, Engagement and Motivation (E&M) should rely on the human factors. If you look at it, gamification as an industry has shown the ability to master human E&M. For example, the ability to get millennials right up to baby boomers to spend hours playing games daily. Is it just a great storyline, multiplayer capability or cool graphics? The science behind this is found in Octalysis – a framework that describes the 8 core drives of E&M. Think Codex CEO, Andrew Lau shares what the 8 core drives of human motivation and engagement are. These 8 core drives are based on a model called Octalysis by Yu-Kai Chou – who is a Taiwanese Gamification Expert who happens to also be the youngest guest lecturer in Stanford University.
