Is Malaysia’s Tourism Still Struggling?

Three days ago, Standard Chartered Global Research reported that Malaysia had the quickest tourism recovery among regional peers last year. Malaysia recovered more than 90% of tourist arrivals compared to 2019 levels, and this is driven by visitors from Singapore.

Despite having a positive recovery, it is found that the number of tourists visiting Malaysia is still falling behind our neighbouring countries.

Why is Malaysia still struggling to compete?

We speak to Nigel Wong, Honorary Treasurer & Spokesperson, Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) to discuss why Malaysia’s tourism is still struggling to take off.
