In 2005, Apple CEO Steve Jobs delivered a memorable commencement speech to graduates of Stanford University. In the 14-minute speech, Jobs detailed his battle with pancreatic cancer and explained how facing his own mortality helped him recognize what was important in life. “Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.”
