As more people lean towards a predominantly plant-based diet, McDonald’s has announced the McPlant - a vegan burger with a patty from a yet-to-be-announced supplier. The McPlant is the fast food giant’s answer to Burger King’s Impossible Whopper, a wholly plant-based burger with patties by Impossible Foods. With fast food chains embracing more vegan options, will meat substitutes break into the mainstream market to override meat completely?
