Budget Airlines: A Model Under Pressure

Jetstar Asia is shutting down after 20 years, but is this just about one airline, or a warning sign for the entire low-cost model in Southeast Asia?

The Singapore-based carrier, part of the Qantas Group, cited rising costs at Changi Airport and post-pandemic pressures. But the deeper story may be what this means for the future of budget flying. While passengers have grown used to cheap tickets and frequent sales, the economics behind low-cost carriers are often anything but straightforward.

Joining us is Shantanu Gangakhedkar, Senior Aviation Consultant at Frost & Sullivan, to help us understand what’s really going on and what it means for the business of air travel across the region.
