Feminist Fridays #29: Who Decides What A Feminist Looks Like?

Director Joss Whedon is often credited as being a feminist auteur and a very vocal supporter of feminism, but his ex-wife Kai Cole would beg to differ. In her guest blog piece for The Wrap, she describes Joss as a "Hypocrite Preaching Feminist Ideals", and details the infidelity and gaslighting she endured during their 16-year marriage, which she believes Whedon circumvented using a 'I'm a Feminist Shield'. The piece has garnered a lot of attention, and our panel dissect Kai's piece and Joss's public persona, and question, among other things, if infidelity stops someone from being a feminist, who decides what a feminist looks like, and should a person's private life be considered separately from their public work.
