The Emirates Stadium, the Staples Center, and the Wrigley Field are homes to three major sports team in the world. They are also just three examples of how corporations are leveraging on the universal appeal of sports in exchange for lucrative sponsorships. This practice recently hit Malaysian shores when the Youth and Sports minister announced that the Putra Stadium will be renamed as the Axiata Arena and serve as the centre stage of the SEA Games in August. Sports lawyers Richard Wee and Lesley Lim explains in the ins and outs of stadium naming rights on this episode of sports law.
