Feminist Fridays #27: Diary for Prasana

The issue of unilateral conversion is back in the headlines, after the government decided to withdraw the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) (Amendment) Act 2016, which was aimed at resolving conflicts arising from interfaith custody battles between Muslim and non-Muslim parents. One of the more high profile cases of this was that of Indira Gandhi, a Hindu mother whose ex-husband converted to Islam, and who then also converted their children with neither Indira nor the children's consent. Filmmaker Norhayati Kaprawi joins us to discuss the short documentary she directed which tells Indira's story, called Diary for Prasana, which will be screened at the upcoming Freedom Film Festival in September.
