Susan Carland is an Australian Muslim who has been, at various stages of her career, a radio correspondent, a television presenter, a newspaper columnist as well as a sociology lecturer at Monash University in Australia, where she is currently pursuing a PhD on the intersection of gender and culture in Islam. In 2009, Susan was named one of the “500 Most Influential Muslims in the World” by the UN Alliance of Civilizations.
