Curriculum #17: Literacy Development in Special Education

May is Better Hearing and Speech month. Assistant Professor in Special Needs Education Dr Wong Tze Peng and speech-language pathologist Kathryn Balsamo - both members of the Malaysian Association of Speech-Language and Hearing (MASH) - explain the options currently available for students with special needs in public schools, the need to move beyond socialisation and daily-life skills, and whether the cost of speech therapy in Malaysia is beyond the reach of many parents.
