Landmark #9: Unilateral Conversion

The last time kindergarten teacher M. Indira Gandhi saw her youngest daughter was more than six years ago. The daughter, Prasana Diksa, was less than a year old when ex-husband Muhammad Riduan Abdullah unilaterally converted her, and her two older siblings, to Islam in 2009. Last month, the Court of Appeal reversed a landmark 2013 High Court decision which annulled these conversions, ruling them unconstitutional. Lawyer Fahri Azzat joins us to discuss the Court of Appeal's decisions and what it means for unilateral conversions and interfaith custody battles going forward.
