Being Abdullah Ahmad Badawi - The Authorised Biography

In this biography of Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, author and journalist Dato Wong Sulong traces Pak Lah’s entry into politics and his subsequent rise in UMNO. After being on the losing side of the ferocious battle between Team A and Team B for the UMNO leadership in 1987, Abdullah displayed acuity and nous to bounce back from political exile to lead his party to the biggest ever general election victory in Malaysian history. Yet, Abdullah’s decision to resign rather than fight off warlords within his party after March 2008 continues to confound observers until today. Sulong explains why he thinks our fifth prime minister is the most misunderstood of Malaysian leaders.
