Curriculum #15: From Purpose to Impact

Daniel Devan was only 19 when he co-founded Project WHEE!, a rural community development social enterprise addressing the socioeconomic needs of the Kelabit community in Bario, Sarawak. Since deciding to take a gap year in 2014, he has also brought Project WHEE! to Kelantan, went on an academic fellowship to the U.S. under the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative and is now back in university pursuing a degree in medicine under a full scholarship. We speak to Daniel about his life-long ambition to be a doctor, being the first recipient of a talent scholarship designed for “social influencers,” as well as his belief in the power of giving back and living with purpose.
