Breaking an Addiction

Addiction exerts a long and powerful influence on the brain that manifests in three distinct ways: craving for the object of addiction, loss of control over its use and continuing involvement with it despite adverse consequences. In view of World Mental Health Day on October 10, a group of psychology students from HELP university collaborated with the Malaysia Psychiatric Association in a campaign to fight addiction on Viva Home from 26th - 27th October. We speak to Dr. Hazli Zakaria, Dr. Eugene Tee and Jeslynn Tan about addiction and the campaign.
