Vapes Will Now Be Regulated, But The GEG Is In Ashes

Last week (on 30th Nov), the long awaited Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Bill 2023 was passed by the Dewan Rakyat, to address the lacuna in the law following the exemption of liquid nicotine from the Poisons Act back in April, among others. But this bill has been criticised by healthcare professionals and policymakers on both sides of the divide for omitting the generational endgame smoking ban. Will this be enough to tackle the growing problem of vaping and smoking among young adults - and even children?

We find out from Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, MP for Kuala Selangor and the current Chairman of the Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Health, as well as Assistant Professor Dr Farhan Rusli, public health medicine specialist from IIUM.
