How To Talk About Self-Harm on Social Media

Social media has been a great platform to raise awareness on mental health issues, but it can also be a trigger for those who are still struggling, especially when it comes to those at risk of self-harm. So how do we ensure that online content is helpful instead of harmful, and are social media companies responsible for moderating these content online? We find out from consultant psychiatrist Dr Ravivarma Rao Panirselvam.

This segment talks about self-harm and suicide, and may be a difficult topic for some listeners. If you need to talk about it, do look for local support within your community, or call helplines like Talian HEAL 15555, MIASA's 24-hour helpline 1800-1800-66 or Befrienders KL 03 7627 2929.

To make a complaint about harmful content to the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia, click here
