Healthcare Heroes #2: REACH Sarawak

In conjunction with Merdeka and Malaysia Day 2022, Health & Living features healthcare heroes - individuals and organisations on a mission to make healthcare accessible to marginalised communities across Malaysia. REACH Sarawak, which stands for Rural Expeditions Assisting Community Health, is a team of mostly healthcare professionals, who volunteer their time to provide healthcare services to rural communities in northeast Sarawak who otherwise can’t easily access healthcare. One of the founders of REACH Sarawak, Dr Xavier Sim, joins us to share more about the work that his team does in the almost 20 years since they started in 2003, and why healthcare is only one of the many challenges that the communities they serve face.
