Doctor in the House: Why Psychology Matters in a Pandemic

In 2019, mere months before a form of “viral pneumonia” was reported in Wuhan, China, a book titled ‘The Psychology of Pandemics’ was published. This remarkably prescient publication by Prof Dr Steven Taylor highlighted the importance of understanding the psychological factors of a pandemic, in order to prepare for the next global outbreak.

On the 2nd anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Taylor, clinical psychologist and professor at the Department of Psychiatry, University of British Columbia, joins us to shed light on why psychology matters in a pandemic, and whether we are mentally prepared for the post-pandemic era.
