Doctor in the House: What If We Can’t Access Life-Saving Medicine For COVID-19?

Dr George Lee returns to discuss the latest medical news. Expect deep insights delivered with generous humour. It was recently reported that the United States bought almost all available supplies of the antiviral drug remdesivir for the next three months. Remdesivir has been said to show some improvements in COVID-19 patients, but the US’s move means that there is practically no supplies left for the rest of the world. We speak to Dr Mark Cheong, pharmacist and lecturer, as well as Sangeeta Sashikant, programme director from Third World Network, to find out the impact this move could have in our fight against COVID-19, and what it takes to ensure equitable access to life-saving medication during a global pandemic.
