Doctor in the House: How You Can Support Suicide Prevention

Attempted suicide has been decriminalised in Malaysia but the work does not end there. In conjunction with World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September), consultant urologist Dr George Lee is joined by Alia Ali, founder of Awareness Against Suicide (AWAS) and Justin Victor, chairmain of Befrienders KL, to delve into what we can do as individuals and as a community to support and help those who are struggling with their mental health and suicidal ideation.

This segment talks about self-harm and suicide, and may be a difficult topic for some listeners. If you need to talk about it, do look for local support within your community, or call helplines like:

  • - Talian HEAL at 15555,

  • - MIASA's 24-hour helpline at 1-800-180-066, or

  • - Befrienders KL at 03 7627 2929.
