Could Private Healthcare In Sarawak Support The Public Sector?

The challenges of the overburdened, under-resourced public health sector in Sarawak are well-known. But in Malaysia’s two-tier healthcare system, private health facilities also manage a considerable bulk of patients. What challenges do middle-income patients face in terms of access to primary and specialist care, medical procedures, and the increasing costs of healthcare? Dr Kenny Yeap, COO and Medical Director of Borneo Medical Centre in Miri, joins us to share the perspective of private healthcare in northern Sarawak, and we discuss the question of whether a new government will be willing to take up the challenge of decentralising healthcare in East Malaysia this coming GE15.
